KDR Projects Bolsters Production Efficiency With Vivid VeloBlade Nexus From Soyang
Scottish graphics production and signage company KDR Projects has praised the impact of its Vivid VeloBlade Nexus wide format digital die cutter, revealing how the investment from Soyang Hardware has allowed it to reduce costs, cut production time and enhance its environmentally friendly offerings.
Founded in 2021 and based in Pathhead near Edinburgh, KDR Projects works with customers across a wide range of applications, spanning large format graphics, signage, branded interiors, window graphics, exhibition branding and display pieces for museums and galleries.
Having gone from strength to strength over the past few years, KDR Projects took the decision to further bolster its services by purchasing a Vivid VeloBlade Nexus. Manufactured by Vivid Laminating Technologies and sold through Soyang Hardware as an approved distribution partner, the machine is part of a new generation of flatbed cutting technologies built for use across printers and production houses of varying sizes.
Featuring an advanced toolset, including drag knife, crease wheel, v-cut knife, oscillating knife, and optional CNC router, the machine opens up all manner of opportunities to users. Add in its ability to handle a wide range of substrates, from corrugated board and foam PVC to MDF, acrylic and Dibond, and the device can be put to work on multiple applications including indoor and outdoor signage, packaging, POS and banners.
KDR took delivery of the machine in March 2025, and, after a year of operation, the company has noted a host of benefits, with production becoming more efficient as a result.
“We were looking for efficiency to go alongside our direct to substrate offering,” KDR Projects Director Kerry De Vos said. “After researching the machine and seeing it on the Soyang stand at Sign and Digital UK earlier in 2025, we found it was the best suited machine to our needs. Since installation, it has been running work such as cut to shape stickers, cardboard panels, jigsaw puzzles, outdoor graphics and various signage solutions.
“Being able to cut boards and panels with the VeloBlade saves us either having to hand cut them or ordering them in cut to size. As a result, it has allowed us to save both time and money.”
On top of this, the VeloBlade has been supporting KDR Project’s wider sustainability strategy, which includes all of its print capabilities carrying the coveted GREENGUARD certification. This ensures a product has met rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds into indoor air and is acceptable for use in environments such as schools and healthcare facilities.
“We can print straight onto materials made from card or paper, then cut them out using the new machine,” Kerry said. “All this means we can be more efficient and sustainable as a business.”
