KAS unveils drupa line-up

UK mailing machine manufacturer, KAS Paper Systems Ltd, has revealed its equipment line-up for drupa 2024.
KAS has designed its own card attaching system that can be integrated with the Mailmaster range of enveloping systems. drupa will be the first public showing of the CardMailer. The CardMailer can match and attach plastic or paper based cards to letters or other documents. “One of the main features”, says Managing Director Mr Stephen Hampstead, “is the flexible and modular design of the CardMailer. Dimensions of a card can be from a Sim size to A6, and various forms of reading technology are available. The in-line Mailmaster envelope inserting system, carrier printing, camera matching, envelope weighing and addressing are modular options”.

“The card carrier can either be pre-printed or printed on-line. When pre-printed, an A4 sheet can be fed and folded but the carrier could be a sheet, folded document or booklet, pre-sized for the envelope. Alternatively, an A4 carrier can be printed in-line, with a floor standing office printer. The card, as the primary document, is fed and read and this data is used to print the personalised carrier”.

“In either case, the carrier can be folded before or after the card has been attached, depending on the application. The card is fed from a top load, bottom feed shuttle feeder, and attached to the carrier with hot melt glue. More than one card can be attached to the carrier. Carrier and card are read, and this data can be used for matching and/or recording to a file for reporting. If they don’t match, the item is diverted before going any further”.

“A KAS Mailmaster envelope inserter can be placed in line to receive the carrier and attached card, and this is the version we will be demonstrating at drupa. Additional multiple enclosures can be added, from a single sheet of 80gsm, pre-folded items, reply envelopes, and booklets up to 7mm thick, fed from automatic feeders. The completed pack is then inserted into the envelope and sealed”.

In addition, KAS will be demonstrating its latest envelope inserter, the Mailmaster Ascent, for the first time at a European show. The Ascent inserts up to 8,000 DL, C5 and C4 envelopes per hour and its standard configuration has a letter feeder/accumulator/folder and four insert feeders. As well as a small footprint, the Ascent benefits from semi-automated job changeover and optional camera reading on the primary feeder, insert feeders, envelope feeders and exit.

KAS will also be showing its well-proven envelope inserter, the Mailmaster 465, which encloses up to 6,000 C4, C5 or DL envelopes per hour.

Finally, KAS will be displaying the KASFOLD 640 large format booklet maker and trimmer which can produce A4 portrait and landscape booklets, as well as 12” by 12” and booklets as small as A6.”
