Family owned signage business City Signs has invested in an HP Latex R530 to increase production flexibility, improve workflow efficiency and bring more applications in-house. The printer was installed at the Worcester based company in September and is running alongside its existing HP Latex 365.
Established in 1960 as a traditional signwriting business, City Signs has evolved over more than six decades into a full service signage and display provider. Its offering spans vehicle graphics, exhibitions, retail branding, internal and external signage, wall graphics, window manifestations, wayfinding, banners and labels.
Such is the diversified nature of the company’s offering and customer base that City Signs recently took the decision to enhance its production setup with a new printer. The company opted for the HP Latex R530, which was purchased from approved HP partner Papergraphics.
The only compact all in one rigid and flexible printer in the HP Latex range, the HP Latex R530 runs at a top speed of 24sq m/hr in indoor mode. The machine can print on boards up to 1.6m wide and 5cm thick, opening up its use across a host of applications from signage and vehicle graphics to printed textiles, point of sale and packaging.
Darren Wilkins, Director of City Signs, said: “The ability to print efficiently on both rigid and flexible materials from one platform was particularly appealing, allowing us to streamline production and improve workflow efficiencies.
“We were also impressed by the machine's sustainability credentials, including reduced waste, energy efficiency and water based HP Latex inks.”
Since its installation in September, the HP Latex R530 has helped City Signs reduce turnaround times and is also prompting the company to explore new markets.
“The R530 opens up new opportunities in retail, exhibitions, point of sale and interior décor,” said Darren. “It also enables us to offer a broader range of products in-house, reducing the need for outsourcing and giving our customers greater flexibility.
“The investment supports our long term growth strategy by increasing productivity, improving sustainability and expanding the services we can offer.”
Darren also took time to pay tribute to Papergraphics and the service it provided throughout the new investment process. In addition, he spoke about the impact HP technology has had on the business and the role HP will continue to play as the company seeks further growth.
“As a family owned business with a long history in the signage industry, we believe investing in the latest technology is essential for continuing to deliver outstanding service to our customers,” Darren said.
“The HP Latex R530 represents much more than a new printer; it is an investment in the future of our business. It supports our commitment to quality, innovation and sustainability while providing greater flexibility and efficiency across our production operations.
“As customer expectations continue to evolve, having technology like the HP Latex R530 enables us to remain competitive, responsive and environmentally responsible, ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional results for many years to come.”
